Donations to the NJP medical and education funds can be made for any amount any time.
Medical Emergency Fund
Tibetans in India have no access to funded health care. They rely on their modest savings or are at the mercy of friends or relatives to fund unexpected medical expenses. NJP, through their in-country support people, receive claims from sick and frail individuals in need of medical support. Geshe Sonam Thargye assesses these requests on NJP’s behalf and makes recommendations to the NJP Committee for endorsement. Health care in India is out of reach for many Tibetans and therefore without help their health issues remain untreated. Contributions to the health fund are distributed on a case by case basis.
Education Fund
The NJP education fund is used to support young people, who may or may not have a sponsor with additional education costs. These costs might include transport to university, one-off or regular payments for tuition or accommodation expenses. NJP, through their in-country support people receive claims for additional education support. Geshe Sonam Thargye assesses these requests on NJP’s behalf and makes recommendations to the NJP Committee for endorsement.
